Manx Sailors at Trafalgar

The following list is taken from the Public Information Sheet #9 issued by Manx National Heritage Library in conjustion with an exhibition reflecting the life of those Manx sailors who fought (willingly or unwillingly) with Nelson. The names are as recorded by the Royal Navy Other Manx in RN in period 1790-1794 have been noted.

Robert Benjamin Young born in Douglas in 1773, the son of
Robert Parry and Jane Redfern. Lieutenant commanding H.M.S Entreprenante at the Battle of Trafalgar, granted a parliamentary award of £161 and the Lloyds Patriotic Fund for Wounds presented him with a sword worth £100.Died Exeter in 1846

Lt Buckle Reeves, son of a doctor from Cork, lived in Douglas, buried St Georges

Lt James Waring died at St John's; a Monumental Inscription,since lost. in St Peter's Peel had James Warring was born in Westmorland in 1779. He volunteered to join the Navy and was Midshipman on board H.M.S Ajax during the Battle of Trafalgar.
